How Long Does a New Boiler Installation Take?

If you’re planning to replace your boiler, one of the first things you’ll want to know is: “How long will it take?” The short answer: usually a day — but it depends on the setup in your home and what’s involved in the swap.

Standard Boiler Replacements: Usually 1 Day

If you’re replacing your existing boiler with a similar model (like a combi for a combi) in the same location, it’s typically a same-day job. Here’s what we cover in that time:

  • Removing the old boiler
  • Fitting the new one and adjusting pipework as needed
  • Setting up the controls and thermostat
  • Testing the system and flushing where required
  • Full handover — we show you how everything works

This is the case for most of our Essentials or Plus Boiler Packages.

What Might Take Longer?

Some installs take 2–3 days — especially if we’re changing your system or moving the boiler. Things that can extend the job include:

  • Switching from system or regular to combi
  • Moving the boiler to another room or wall
  • Upgrading old pipework
  • Installing a vertical or relocated flue
  • Fitting smart controls or extra radiators

We’ll always explain your options and give you a clear time estimate up front — no surprises.

Same-Day Installs: When It’s Possible

Plenty of our jobs are completed in one full working day — especially when replacing a combi boiler like-for-like, in the same location, and with no extra upgrades. Our team arrives on time, gets the job done safely and cleanly, and walks you through the system before we leave.

Boiler Upgrades That May Take 2+ Days

Planning to upgrade your heating system while you’re at it? These add-ons can extend the install:

  • Adding a magnetic filter or new smart controls
  • Power flushing an old or sludged system
  • Repositioning the boiler or extending the flue run

Will I Have Heating and Hot Water During the Install?

For most standard swaps, you shouldnt be without heating and hot water overnight. If the job takes longer, we’ll keep you updated and provide temporary heaters if needed — especially in colder months.

How to Get Ready for the Install

Here are a few simple things you can do to help us get started:

  • Clear the area around the boiler if possible
  • Move pets and valuables out of the way
  • Make sure someone’s home to walk through the handover with us
